18. Symposium Tektonik, Strukturgeologie und Kristallingeologie

16. bis 20. März 2020

Köln

Universität zu Köln
Institut für Geologie und Mineralogie

Scientific Objectives
„We welcome contributions ranging from the study of intra-crystalline deformation processes of naturally and experimentally deformed rocks to orogen-scale studies of active and inactive accretionary systems and genetically associated sedimentary basins, as well as large-scale, plate tectonic reconstructions.

Modelling of tectonic processes is becoming more and more important and we hope for numerous exciting examples. Similarly, we encourage contributions covering all temporal scales, ranging from slow viscous creep associated with solid-state metamorphic reactions during the formation of ductile shear zones to the fast deformation recorded during seismic events and impacts. As a reaction on the demands of our current and future students , we also want to start to put a focus on the role geological sciences can play for solving the challenges of our changing planet in the near future.”

Mathias Knaak (GD NRW) wird gemeinsam mit weiteren Experten einen Workshop, eine Session und eine Exkursion leiten.
